From Public (Government) Sources to Producers: On July 3, 2006, the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) approved a $700 million Full Funding Grant Agreement to DART to begin a $2.5 billion expansion of the light rail system, to fund the Green line and the Orange light rail lines in the Dallas area. In February of 2009, DART also received $78.4 million in funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for the Green Line. In May of 2009, the project received $35.9 million in funding from the U.S Department of Transportation, which will be used to pay for a 21-mile extension of the Green Line.
