New twin tunnels beneath the Hudson River from North Bergen, NJ to 34th St in Manhattan, intended to more than double the capacity of commuter-rail service between New Jersey and Manhattan. NJ is advancing the project in cooperation with the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

From Public (Government) Sources to Producers: The state has set aside $1.5 billion for the project and will receive $1.25 billion from a toll increase on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has directed $3 billion to the project. The Federal Transit Admininstration announced in June 2009 that will provide $400 million in federal funding on top of the $330 million the Obama administration has already committed.
