Comments: The Natomas levee system shields 80,000 people from the Sacramento River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decided in January 2008 that sections of its levee system are unsafe due to deficiencies related to levee under-seepage issues.

From Public (Government) Sources to Producers: The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, the City of Sacramento, and the state of California are involved in the funding of this project. The federal government has also provided funds. Proposition 1E, approved by voters in November 2006, a bond debt that allocated $49 million to the levee projects in Natomas will fund the project. In June 2009, $40 million in state funding was allocated to the project as well.
