The project is for the management of civic amenity sites, waste transfer stations, compost, and energy-from-waste plant and landfill sites. It does not include waste collection. The private contractor who is granted the contract is required to reach a target of 40% recyclying by 2010-11. The bidder will also have the opportunity to purchase the local authority waste company.
