Description: Emergency water supply for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Inland Feeder system. The Arrowhead Tunnels project consists of two 19-foot excavated-diameter tunnels (East 6 miles, West 5 miles), with pre-cast concrete liners, and steel pipes. The tunnel liner's design is to withstand a magnitude 8.0 earthquake.

From Public (Government) Sources to Producers: Project funded directly by MWD. Design team led by Jacobs Engineering. Main contractor - Shea-Kenny. Tunnel subcontractor Traylor-Shea-Ghazi, with detailed design of segmental lining by Halcrow. A special lining was also developed that allowed the use of a grout bag on the outside of the lining, to form an external seal between the lining and the rock in areas of high water flow.
