Description: 230,000 sqft federal courthouse in downtown Austin, occupying a full city block west of Republic Square. A highly compact, complex cubic building form with eight stories -- the building will have 8 courtrooms and chambers for 10 judges. The structure wlil also house a number of federal workers. The design includes features that make use of natural light, a rainwater collection system for irrigation, and a high-efficiency air-conditioning unit.
