Description: Fourth expansion to the Indiana Convention Center since 1972, this $275 million project will be built on the site of the old RCA Dome in Indianapolis (now demolished). An indorr street level, climate controlled connector links the convention center to Lucas Oil Stadium (NFL football Indianapolis Colts). The project includes 566,600 of exhibit halls, 71 meeting rooms, 3 ballromms, 48 loading docks, and physical connections to 12 hotels (4700 rooms). The project is scheduled to open in December 2010.

From Public (Government) Sources to Producers: The project’s $275 million cost is being financed with funds raised jointly by the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis through special taxes. Marion County has raised taxes for food and beverage sales, auto rental taxes, innkeeper’s taxes and admission taxes for its share of the costs. A small increase in food and beverage taxes in six “donut” counties completes the total.
