Background informationProject Created: October 30, 2010

Project Name: Fairplay (CO) WWTP
Year in Operation: 2008
Sector: Water & Waste
Subsector: Wastewater
Status: In Operation
Type: Repositioning of Existing Facility
Description: Because of the high elevation and extremely cold temperatures inherent in the city of Fairplay, Colorado, new ammonia limits set by the state were not being met by the town’s existing lagoon-type wastewater treatment plant which relies on warmer temperatures to be effective. As a replacement, it was recommended that an integrated fixed-film activated sludge treatment facility, capable of biological nutrient removal, be design and built. This would reduce process time from 60 days to 12 hours. This recommendation was executed and the plant was been operating effectively since Winter of 2008.
Delivery Method as described in the country where it's located: Design Build
Is the project still active: Yes
