Description: The project consists of building a new zoned earth and rock fill dam immediately downstream of the existing dam. The existing concrete dam is susceptible to seismic activity. The new dam will be earthen, with a clay core. Sukut/Flatiron/Dragados Joint Venture was awarded the Calaveras Dam Replacement Project for $259 million in June of 2011. It’s an 8 million CY project with both drill/blast rock and a jag of scraper dirt.
