Sector: Transportation
Subsector: Roads, Bridge
Status: Design / Construction

Description: New replacement bridge across the Ohio River, between Brilliant, OH and Wellsburg, WV. The new bridge provides additional means for crossing the Ohio, following the demolition of the Fort Steuben Bridge in early 2012. The project will include construction of the bridge, approach structures and roadway approaches. The bridge section will be 3- 12' wide lanes with 6' wide shoulders and a separated 8' wide shared use path. Flatiron was selected as the design builder, following a RFQ and RFP process, in which three proposals were submitted. Flatiron will design and build a tied-arch bridge that will be constructed offsite and delivered by barge to the project site for installation. This proposal is expected to reduce/accelerate project timetables. Flatiron's project partners include RS&H, TRC Engineers, and COWI North America. A final design is to be submitted for WVDOT approval.
